Account Assistant

Description

We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Account Assistant to support the finance department in daily accounting tasks, financial record-keeping, and reporting. The ideal candidate will assist in processing transactions, maintaining accurate records, and supporting the finance team in ensuring compliance with accounting standards and company policies.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with daily bookkeeping and posting of financial transactions.
  • Prepare and process invoices, payment vouchers, and expense reports.
  • Support accounts receivable and payable functions.
  • Reconcile bank statements and monitor account balances.
  • Maintain proper filing and documentation of financial records.
  • Assist in preparing periodic financial reports and summaries.
  • Support internal audits and respond to audit queries.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and accounting procedures.
  • Monitor due payments and follow up with customers or vendors.
  • Perform other accounting and administrative duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Good understanding of basic accounting principles and bookkeeping.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., Sage, QuickBooks, or ERP systems).
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial records.
  • Ability to manage time and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Integrity and confidentiality in handling financial information.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • OND/HND/B.Sc. in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 1–2 years relevant experience in an accounting or finance support role.
  • Familiarity with Nigerian tax regulations and statutory deductions is an added advantage.
  • Experience in an industrial or trading company is preferred.
